“Getting to know TERREWODE at the celebration was my breakthrough.”

For years, Faisy lived with an injury she didn’t know could be treated.

Kilenzi Faisy is a mother of seven from Uganda.

During the birth of her first child, Faisy experienced a severe perineal tear. The injury did not heal properly, and its effects followed her for nearly 10 years.

She went on to have six more children while continuing to live with the complications.

The injury affected deeply personal parts of her life. Faisy experienced difficulty controlling gas and strain within her marriage, including hurtful treatment from her husband related to the physical effects of her childbirth injury.

For years, she tried local herbal remedies, hoping something would help.

Nothing did.

Then she heard about TERREWODE.

In 2025, Faisy attended a National Women’s Day celebration in Kyankwanzi District.

There, she learned about TERREWODE and discovered that treatment was available for women living with childbirth injuries like hers.

After nearly a decade of carrying the physical and emotional burden of her injury, that knowledge became a turning point.

“Getting to know TERREWODE at the celebration was my breakthrough.”

Faisy remembers the moment with tears of joy.

For years, she had lived with an injury she believed she simply had to endure.

Now she knew there was another possibility.

Sometimes the first step toward healing is knowing help exists.

Women living with childbirth injuries may go years without treatment, not because care is impossible, but because they do not know that treatment exists or where to find it.

Community outreach helps close that gap.

By bringing information about childbirth injuries and treatment into communities, TERREWODE can reach women like Faisy before another year passes in silence.

Her story is a reminder that awareness itself can change the course of a woman’s life.
